Fernseed recently picked up a line of jewelry and valet boxes made from an Oakland resident, who cut down his black walnut tree and reclaimed the wood to create beautiful utilitarian products. They are truly amazing. The details are unbelievable. The jewelry boxes are lined with felt to prevent scratching. Minimal hinge details (which I like). Incredibly affordable for such craftsmanship - $85-$175

Fernseed.com features a small collection of what is offered at the Fernseed store, a sustainable retailer in Oakland. We reclaim products no longer desired or needed, and usually discarded otherwise. If we can make these products more valuable, we can keep them out of the landfill. So we refabricate to make them look fresh and modern, or we invent new purpose to give these products a second chance. Reusing is a much better alternative to buying new. Extending the life of a pre-own product will help reduce our need for new virgin materials, new energy and more landfill .
