Sorry, photos are rough. This is a turn-of-the-century antique wooden folding chair that needed some happy-happy love. The metal tray on folding legs also needed some desperate attention. I upgraded the stenciled flower pattern by adding multiple colors using all left-over paint.

Chair is $36. Folding Tray Table is $24. Plant is $10.

I even redid a Christmas cookie jar to match. This was a vintage gingerbread house cookie jar, and even at a buck, nobody wanted to bring it home with them. So I decided, let's try to extend its popularity. Perhaps hide the candy canes, the peppermint candy and the snow? I did not paint the inside of the jar, so you can still use it for sweets, but do cookies ever last long enough to store? Me? I would use it for office supplies or money. $24 (No longer available. Donated to a school fundraiser.)

Collaborative work by JoeJoe Martin and Kristine Dang for Fernseed. Two chairs made of Lucite over metal structures turned Art Chairs with a little bit of TLC. This particular LED lighting was developed by JoeJoe, and he designed this new tech LED lighting system to require so little energy that it functions at optimal performance using a single 9 volt battery! The lighting strip is incredibly thin, so it can be easily hidden within design work. One button control allows so many color lighting options, it blows my mind.

These chairs are very durable and sturdy, yet incredibly light-weight. $150 each with LED option. $75 without LED option.

Chairs below are on a constant orange-red glow. Talk about pants on fire! Photo taken from outside looking in.

A fresh coat of dark brown stain on the outside and orange the inside made this look like new. Polyurethane coat will help protect this from water marks and scratches. This unit is strong enough to hold a t.v. Protective rubber feet at bottom. 17" high, 20" wide, 16" deep. $45

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/vintage-office-chairs.html"><rss:title>vintage office chairs</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/vintage-office-chairs.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Today, I visited the government building downtown for a meeting, and I giggled as soon as I recognized "the chair that was..." - steel chairs I recently refabbed orange. Below are photos showing theirs and mine.

My two chairs were reclaimed from the street by a customer (thanks, Sarah!). As with many of the chairs Fernseed receives, these steel ones arrived missing teal pleather seats. To be honest, I had trouble with this project. I selected the wrong fabric twice, so I paid twice to have them upholstered. The third time, I decided time to learn how to do it myself. Not bad for a newbie.

Chairs have original spring seats and steel backings. New foam. Two available at $125 each. Or $200 for the pair.

Two adult chairs $125 each or $200 for the pair.

Photo of my second/third attempts at styling below. I hand-painted the brown linen, which did not go at all with steel gray. My flowers okay, but this project was my first attempt at painting fabric on furniture, so I forgave myself and moved on. :-)

Old version. No longer available. Stripes only.

Even more fun - I used a donated fabric shower curtain, which means these orange chairs are water resistant and can be used as outdoor patio chairs.

The fabric above works for indoor living as well - it's not plastic, silly.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/urban-country-lounging-rocker.html"><rss:title>Urban-country lounging rocker</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/urban-country-lounging-rocker.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Today, I accomplished two achievements I am proud of. I reinvented use for two products that were landfill-destined - neither functional or stylish. This rocker was actually the second achievement, but I am quite excited about it. I added the rocking ability to a 3-legged chair! (I removed those legs, silly.)

A modern design silhouette using urban-country plaid upholstery, designed specifically for new Moms. Yes, plaid hides all those baby burp-ups (is that what you call it?). We can always create a new slipcover for you after a year. :-) Reclaimed chair, scrap fabric and retained bent wood rockers.

As mentioned, this item arrived originally with only 3 short legs and very badly stained upholstery. We had the chair stripped, foam replaced and then new fabric cover. This took quite a bit of work.

The rocking feet were retrieved from an antique rocker made in the Mid-West. Super sturdy. I tested the strength and balance by asking small, medium and large individuals to rock-out. No falling. No scary screams. No squeaking noises!Superb comfort and balance! I am sooo tempted to keep it for myself. No, there are many new Moms who will love this.

The chair fits 1.5 persons. I know, it's kinda strange. Neither an armchair or a loveseat. It is 30" wide. If you ask me, that means Mum + Child. $150

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/a-fun-and-funky-1930s-chair.html"><rss:title>a fun and funky 1930's chair</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/a-fun-and-funky-1930s-chair.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

A chair with loose joints and no seat received way too much attention today. To create the interesting hue on the solid wooden frame, I used a water-based yellow stain. The grooves have deeper yellow coloration, by intention. All the loose joints have been fixed. The seat received new upholstery using scrap fabric reclaimed post a mumu sewing project (funny!). One of one. $150

The distressed yellow dresser has five drawers. We fixed the minor stability issue (it rocked easily before). The wooden knobs were painted a linden green. The interior and back is in its original wooden condition/color. 44" high, 34" wide, 13" deep. $45 (Sold)

The vintage wicker hamper was recently repainted white. The faux fur is scrap fabric placed on the lid as temporary placement. I have yet to decide the upholstery design for the lid/seat. This item will be available soon.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/antique-vintage-wooden-outdoor-furniture.html"><rss:title>antique + vintage wooden outdoor furniture</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.fernseed.com/furniture/antique-vintage-wooden-outdoor-furniture.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

An outdoor set worthy of attention, if you ask me. Two antique folding chairs - one with the original stain and the other stained to match. Chairs fold to about 2" thick (awesome!). American made, most likely around 1920's, when we entertained much outside using portable wooden furniture. Original wood and original hardware. Unbelievable craftsmanship. Each chair is $45.

The loveseat bench is Teak and recently refurbished and refabbed. The center bench/table received refabbed treatment only - original construction. Both in great shape for another century, my goal. For more information on these, please scroll down to view the product posts.
