This heart pillow was created by Laura Pohjola using scrap fabric, then filled with rice so it can also be used as a heating pillow. Simply microwave for a minute to heat the pillow. Made in Oakland. One of one. $16

A super cute version of the Giant Panda, an endangered specie. Designed and created by Kristi Holohan of Oakland, using all reclaimed materials. Fabric scraps from unwanted sofas, blankets and clothes. Buttons and thread also reclaimed. One of one. $42

This jewelry box was made from reclaimed wood by Edmund Eng of Oakland. It was made from a Black Walnut tree he had to cut down in his backyard due to foundation issues. He turned his hobby into a career. Made in the USA. $195 (which is extremely reasonable considering its craftsmanship.)

Pressed Gerarium leaves used for stenciling, then reclaimed and used as art for greeting cards. Hand-made by Kristine Dang. 2-

A reclaimed cachepot catcher was converted into a zen garden vessel. An altar of sorts, but instead of a God, I used a reclaimed/refabbed sand timer. Three beautiful reclaimed rocks, an Aeranthos Hybrid Tillandsia (air plant), and new river stones are included. 28-

We are offering air plants as alternative to plastic bows. All you need is to dunk them before you tie them on your gift box (by the way, which is a candy box that was painted with reclaimed latex paint). The air plant will last until Christmas under the tree. Please decrease demand for disposable plastic products. $2 each.

A new collection at Fernseed from artist and designer Kristi Holohan of Oakland. She hand-made all these stuffed animals out of reclaimed materials from upholstery fabric, torn blankets and scrap fabric. She used thread, yard and buttons reclaimed from the Creative Depot in Berkeley. Designs are of different endangered species, including elephant, owls, cranes, cats, fish, tiger and also the human heart (very poetic!). Not all items shown in image. Price varies depending how involved the design work was to create each item. $26-$48

One of my favorite products is now in stock at Fernseed. A stapler that uses no staples and creates no paper waste. Cleverly designed, this little tool punches and stitches paper together, up to four pages. Safe for kids. Come try it out. It's super kewl, I promise.
Available in translucent orange, blue and green. $7.50

This is one of our favorite products - Reclaimed apothecary jars re-purposed into striking (figuratively and literally) match boxes. The bottom of each jar has been etched to create the striking surface. Amazing sustainable creativity by designer Jen Pearson. 20-
